A few days ago I posted a blog regarding the state of our economy. The malls of America may give the appearance of business as usual but according to the dismal numbers cited in the story below, the reality is far different for retailers. Regardless I don't feel that it was that bad. I will say that from my own experience the only difference was that people actually thought about what they were purchasing & in some small way were far smarter consumers. I have to say this was the best Xmas ever. I did not buy the usual 30 gifts I buy for friends just for the sake of purchasing & worrying if they bought me something & I would have to reciprocate or because I had to. I bought gifts because I wanted to & it was less stressful & far more giving & less expensive. Christmas felt far more personal this year then it ever has. It was about family & close friends. If the retailers suffered because of it, they don't have my sympathy, OH WELL. We have to find a better way to improve our economy & not base our whole liveliehood & way of living on shopping & yes that comes from a woman...
